STAR WARS: EPISODE VII
THE FORCE AWAKENS
MOVIE REVIEW
I would never really consider myself a die-hard Star Wars fan, but after
watching The Force Awakens, I might reconsider that decision with the movie making me become much more interested in the Star Wars universe!
I used to buy the toys and play the games, but for some reason I found the movies boring. With the huge hype that this movie has received I decided to re-watch
A New Hope and to my surprise I absolutely loved it!
This pushed me to go watch The Force Awakens and it was a truly breathtaking cinematic experience!
A lot of fans say that they will never forget the time they first watched A New Hope
in cinemas because it was something they had never seen before and for me,
The Force Awakens was the first Star Wars movie I had actually seen in cinemas
and I kind of felt the same feeling as those fans who went to see A New Hope
for time in cinemas.
That's one of the things that I found so awesome about the movie, not only does
it provide and awesome adventure for die hard fans who have been around
since the 70's, but also provides new fans the opportunity to be introduced
to the Star Wars universe!
Story:
The story of The Force Awakens is great and keeps viewers interested throughout each scene! The pace is really good as well, it is not too slow and not too fast meaning viewers can embrace each beautiful scene without having the feeling of the story moving along to quickly! A lot of people have been complaining that the plot is quite unoriginal but personally, it didn't bother me at all because of the way it was executed and because of the new and interesting characters!
Characters:
The characters in the movie, both new and returning, are all really awesome!
Rey, Finn and Poe are our three new main characters who are all very likeable characters which makes viewers want to invest their time in seeing these characters journeys and development! There backstory's are still a bit mysterious which is good because it means that it can be explored in further films!
Han Solo, Chewbacca and Leia are the returning main characters who also do a wonderful job at carrying the story along! It was nice to see how the returning characters have changed over 30 years.
The main villain of the movie is Kyo-Ren who I absolutely loved! His threatening and intimidating behaviour sent chills down my spine in each scene and his impulsive and reckless behaviour makes him even more fearful as a villain!
And how can I forget the absolutely adorable little droid BB-8 who is hillarious!
Each character is unique and interesting and they fit into the Star Wars universe
really well!
Visuals:
The visuals were one of the things that definitely stood out for me in this movie! Each shot was beautiful, and the practical effects that this movie uses makes this universe seem way more real than if it were just all c.g.i which is definitely a great thing! I unfortunately did not watch this movie in IMAX (will hopefully go see it in IMAX next week) but I do recommend you go see it in IMAX as each scene is breathtaking due to the phenomenal visuals! The only times I felt like I was taken out of the universe was when c.g.i was used, which is very rarely, but some of the characters who were fully c.g.i did look obviously fake and that somewhat bothered me, but the immense amount of practical effects and beautiful settings makes up for that!
Action:
The action sequences in this film were magnificent! Each action scene was exhilarating, exciting and suspenseful! The amazing practical effects work well in creating dynamic action scenes that keep viewers on the edge of there seats,
jaw dropped with awe.
Overview:
Overall, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is an amazing movie that you have to watch! Wether you are a Star Wars fan or not, I guarantee you will love this film!
It is definitely up there on my list of cinema experiences I will never forget and I can't wait to go see it again sometime over the christmas holidays!
I give Star Wars: The Force Awakens 9/10

DEADPOOL
MOVIE REVIEW

BATMAN V SUPERMAN:
DAWN OF JUSTICE
MOVIE REVIEW

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, a movie comic book nerds and superhero fans alike have been waiting for for 3 years with an undeniably exceptional amount of hype. I walked into the cinema excited to see this movie, trying to ignore all the negative review but 2 and a half hours later when the movie finished I couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed. Before I get into my review I just want to say, I'm not one of those people who loves Marvel but hates DC, I really like Batman, Superman and other DC characters such as The Flash and I genuinely wanted to enjoy this film and even though for the most part I did, there were a few negative aspects that kind of ruined the movie for me.
Story:
In Batman V Superman, there is quite a bit going on in terms of story, and although the plot points are fairly interesting, it just felt really messy in the way that the plot points were structured. Although the story was interesting, many things felt very predictable and the way some things happened felt a bit too convenient, and I don't mean that in a good way. As interesting as the story was, it was definitely flawed in some areas.
Characters:
Most of the characters in this film were pretty great. Both Superman and Batman were really great, Ben Afleck was fucking amazing as Batman! Batman as a character was really great, and probably the best character in the film. Superman was also really awesome! In some scenes Henry Cavill's performance fell a bit short but overall he was a likeable and interesting character. The character I was most excited to see was Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and he turned out to be amazing! I really liked his character and him as a villain! The only character I was really annoyed with was Doomsday as I felt he was just there to be a villain and didn't really serve much of a purpose besides trying to take down the heroes. In terms of characters I feel a few of them could've been cut out to reduce the amount of subplots but overall most of the characters were pretty good.
Visuals:
The visuals were probably the best thing about this film and it makes sense because Zack Snyder is usually pretty good when it comes to visuals. The visuals for the most part were pretty stunning and made the movie much more enjoyable and exciting to watch!
Action:
The action scenes in this film were awesome and entertaining! The fight scene between Batman and Superman was definitely a highlight and was really fucking awesome! There were some bits where a felt it got a bit stale but for the most part the action scenes were pretty fun to watch!
Overview:
Overall, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, is a movie that for the most part was pretty good but in some parts, fell a bit short. Although I was hoping to watch this in IMAX, I don't think I will and that doesn't bother me because I don't think watching it in that format will really change anything. If you are a comic book fan or even just a fan of Batman and Superman in general, you're probably going to watch this movie without a doubt but all I'm going to say is don't get too
over-excited about it as it might not fulfil the anticipation.
I give Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice 7/10
